My wife told me she was 16 thought about wearing them since she 12 ish but never pulled the trigger. I asked her what made finally wear them and of course to impress a guy cuz she has a fat ass bumble butt and once she saw how she looked in them she either wore thongs or nothing.
 
My wife: Growing up, her mom just didn't allow thongs, so even though she was aware of them in high school, she only wore regular "boring" underwear. Went to a big party school for college where it was obviously just the standard for all girls, so she made the switch then. From that point on (18 years old), that was exclusively what she wore. Switched from fullback underwear to thongs because of VPLs in yoga pants.

College girlfriend "M": Classic 2010-era preppy girl, basically lived in a combination of Hollister and Abercromie clothing. Loved to wear cute thongs (exclusively VS/Pink). Started wearing thongs partway through high school and never again wore anything else.

Post-college girlfriend "B": Worked at Victoria's Secret during high school, and to say she was obsessed with the brand would be an understatement. Started wearing thongs freshman year of high school. Was so obsessed with thongs that she was always trying to convince girls that weren't wearing them that they needed to convert.

K2 started wearing them when she was 14. She dident “love” them yet she wore them 99% of the time because guys liked them.

J started wearing them some time in early high school. She couldn’t remember exactly. She said they were the most comfy thing ever and only wore them. Also said she liked the fact they disappear up her butt crack.

The next year in school was seemingly the year that all the hot girls converted to thongs. The first one I saw was from a girl who was on a few different sports teams, so was in really good shape, and didn't wear anything other than low rise skinny jeans that really hugged her butt. I only saw one specific thong from her that year, but she seemed to wear it every single week, and it was constantly hanging out. It was a light blue string thong with a triangle in the back. I always made sure to either sit directly behind her or one seat diagonally behind her for an optimal viewpoint. When I was 16, a girl who was in several of my classes often sat near me and always had her thong hanging out of her pants or skirt. I dated her for six months when i was 17th year. Wife and her mom had never talked about thongs before that shopping trip. Those were her first thongs and all thanks to her friends mom who was buying them for her daughter. Wife said she wore those 2 thongs to school with some low rise pants that were popular back then. Her thongs grew by the time she was in high school and for a bit she was wearing them almost all the time due to sports before she got an infection.

When I met my wife when she was in her early 20s she still had her 2 first thongs. She wasn’t big on thongs when we met but this past year she’s converted to 100% thongs

Her mom didn't/doesn't wear thongs, and felt that they were too "sexy" for a high school girl to wear, so they weren't allowed. As I said in my initial post though, going to a big party school for college in ~2010 meant that she switched over immediately and wore nothing else from that point forward.

During dinner tonight my wife randomly started talking about underwear growing up (unprompted by me, and kind of an incredible coincidence so soon after posting about this here).

We were initially talking about dads buying underwear for the daughters, which she thought would be weird, especially if it was anything remotely sexy like a thong. She said her dad never bought her underwear, though he did the family laundry when she was in HS and so he was folding her underwear every week (but just regular/basic fullback underwear).

That’s when the story started getting really good. Again entirely unprompted by me, she went on to tell me about buying her first thong. A minor change from my initial post above, she said it was actually senior year of high school, not freshman year of college that she switched over. She said she would hand wash her thong every week in the sink so her parents wouldn’t find out. Eventually her mom saw her thong peaking out of her jeans one day and confronted her about it, to which my wife replied “well too bad, this is just what I’m wearing now”. And then she said when she went to college, starting freshman year it was “all thongs and I never went back”.

I swear my wife knows how much I love listening to her tell stories like that, especially when she causally drops them on me while I’m trying to eat soup 😂
 
Different EX GF story from my earlier dating days.
