My girlfriend is five months pregnant. I haven’t heard her mention anything about stopping wearing thongs, but I'm curious about other people’s experiences. She wears thongs about 75% of the time, even while pregnant. Recently, she bought some comfortable high-waisted pregnancy thongs, which I think are really hot, and it tells me she plans to keep wearing thongs throughout the pregnancy at least. But I’m wondering what happens after and when the kid starts getting older. Do women switch from thongs to briefs as they get older, or is it more of a 'mom' thing? She’s almost 28 and has worn thongs since she was an adult, so it seems odd to think she would stop. Still, I know women who are older often switch, even though they used to wear thongs, but I don't know if it’s more about generational change than age or about becoming a mom.
At my old job, I had a colleague in her late thirties with kids. One day at lunch, she was talking about cleaning out her wardrobe and joked about finding all her old 'pre-mom' thongs and getting rid of them. Everyone laughed, probably because most of the people there were older, and it seemed funny that she used to wear them. I took the chance and asked something like, 'So you don’t wear them anymore?' and she kind of cringed, shaking her head and said no almost proudly. I liked that she admitted to wearing them before, but it was disappointed to hear she stopped. She was at least ten years older than my girlfriend is now, but it still makes me wonder if the same thing could happen.
There’s a popular park near me where I've seen moms slip thongs in the playground a few times, and I really want that to be my girlfriend too...
